One aspect of basketball that is neglected
by many youth coaches is rebounding.
Rebounding is an important part of the
game. The team that can out-rebound the
other team will have more opportunities
to score.
Here is an easy rebound drill that can
be performed with the entire team, it
doesn't matter how many players you have.
In this drill, designate half of your
team as offense and the other half as
defense. The coach has the ball and is
the shooter. It is the defense's job to
keep an eye on their player AND to keep
an eye on the ball. The defense should
keep their body between their player and
the basket. Once the coach shoots the
ball, the defense should attempt to properly
box out their player and get the rebound.
The offense should attempt to get around
the defense and get the rebound.
