Respect the Game No matter what sport you're coaching, one thing you need to remember is to RESPECT THE GAME. The sport is bigger than any one individual. The Hall of Fame has many members. Is there one player in the Hall of Fame that's bigger than the game itself? No, not even close. So if there is not a single person in the Hall of Fame that's qualified to disrespect the game why are there so many youth coaches that feel they can disrespect the game? Disrespect comes in many forms: verbally abusing officials, screaming at your players, criticizing coaches are just a few examples. Take a long hard look in the mirror and ask yourself if you have ever: struck out, made an error, missed a block, dropped a pass, missed a shot. Most likely you've made many mistakes in your playing days. How did you feel? So unless you invented the game, remember you are just a very small part of the sport and you should act accordingly.
